Anna L. Babbitt

Anna Lenore Babbitt, age 86, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, with her family by her side. Anna was born March 6, 1937, to the late Mark Wire and Malena (Raus) Wire. On September 29, 2001, she married the love of her life, Chester John Riley in Toledo, Ohio. Anna is survived by her four children/stepchildren, Cheri (David) Pace of Ann Arbor, Steven Babbitt of Howell, Karen Spurlin (Billie) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Laura (Joe) Edell of St. Charles, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Anna graduated from Pioneer High School in 1955, then earned a business associate certification in Minneapolis. While raising her children, she was an accomplished businessperson and editor in academia, working at Pioneer High School followed by the University of Michigan. After she and Chet retired, they enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their cats at Wampler’s Lake. Anna loved to take walks around the lake and ride in the pontoon boat with family and friends. She was a devout, faithful Christian and an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church of the Lakes. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Thursday, December 28th, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, MI. Pastor Kurt Lambarth will officiate. Private burial will follow the service and will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery in Saline. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a luncheon which will take place at 1:00 P.M. at Dan’s Tavern in Saline.
