Carol Kreischer

Carol (Krehbiel) Kreischer died peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in Saline, Michigan. She was 92 years old. Born to Bertrand and Ruth (Chadsey) Krehbiel on December 28, 1930, Carol and her sister Cynthia grew up in Topeka, Kansas where their father was a beloved Pediatrician. Carol met her future husband, Marvin Rausch at Topeka High School. Carol and Marv each graduated from the University of Kansas with BSs and moved to Amherst, Massachusetts where they raised their daughter Kathy. Carol worked as a medical technologist, managing a pathology lab for a medical group. They worshipped at the Wesley United Methodist Church. After her first marriage ended in divorce, Carol married Larry Kreischer. They moved to their lovely home in Pinehurst, North Carolina and enjoyed many happy years of companionship and adventure. After his untimely death in 1995, she moved to Massachusetts then to Michigan to be near her daughter, eventually living at StoryPoint in Saline. She was a member the West Side United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. Carol was a confident and sophisticated traveler, who traveled extensively throughout Europe and also to Russia, China, Japan, Egypt, and South Africa. Later in her career, she became a sought-after travel agent who crafted unique and interesting itineraries for many families and groups. Carol loved animals - her favorite trip was a safari in Africa. She opened her heart and home to numerous shelter pets over the years. Carol is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Rausch Henchey, and son-in-law Paul Henchey, of Saline, Michigan. Carol’s grandson Craig Henchey lives in Gig Harbor, Washington with his wife Lisa and their daughter, Carol’s great-granddaughter, Audrey. Carol’s granddaughter, Laura Henchey Spindler lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband Trenton Spindler and their son, Carol’s great-grandson, James. Carol is also survived by her stepson Bill Kreischer of Pinehurst, North Carolina and his son Shane. The family will hold a private memorial service for Carol.
