Caroline Wardwell Semeyn

Caroline Wardwell Semeyn, age 77, a compassionate and loving friend, sister, mother of 4, and grandmother to 9, died peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025. Carrie was well known for her infectious smile, warm hugs, sense of humor, and her dedication to caring for others. She lit up the room with her spark, and had a gift for making others feel at ease. Carrie’s undeniable calling in life was to nurture others. This became clear as a young girl, when she was a primary helper for her baby brother, Tim, who had special needs. She continued to be a lifelong guardian and advocate for Tim. Carrie later served in many capacities for her beloved First United Methodist Church community in Northville, leading youth groups, organizing gifts for the Angel Tree, championing the homeless community, and providing congregational support as a Stephen Minister. Carrie also served as a hospice volunteer, and loved her gig as a hostess at Genitti’s in Northville, where she created a warm and welcoming environment for all. Carrie maintained a loving home for her family and helped make countless memories for her kids and grandchildren. Carrie would commonly be found preparing amazing meals for family gatherings, cheering at the kids’ many sporting and music events, tailgating for Big Ten football games, and enjoying regular trips to Higgins Lake and the Sarasota Keys. Carrie was an avid fan of her home teams (Go Lions and Go Blue!), loved playing cards with friends, and was always up for a sing-along of any kind, particularly “Sweet Caroline”! She is survived by her children, Mark (Lyn) W. Semeyn, Jr. of Milan, MI, Matthew (Jennifer) W. Semeyn of Missouri City, TX, Erica A. Jacobson of Eugene, OR; son-in-law Steven Fox; brothers John (Abby) G. Wardwell of Dutch Flat, CA, H. Fletcher Wardwell of Sarasota, FL; and 9 grandchildren, Max, Mackenna, Mitchel, Michael, Alexa, Olivia, Micah, Wyatt and Kai Noah. Carrie was preceded in death by her daughter Abigail Fox, former husband Mark W. Semeyn, brother Frank (Tim) Wardwell, and parents John H. and Inin S. Wardwell. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 20 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Northville, MI, 777 Eight Mile West, Northville, MI 48167.
