Elizabeth J. Parkinson

Elizabeth “Beth” Parkinson 80, of Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Beth was born June 6, 1942 to the late George Underwood and Lyleth (Turner) Underwood of Royal Oak. Beth is survived by her 4 children, Sean (Deanna Swan) of Dundee, Patrick (Sherry Green), of Manchester, Kelly (Gerry Sheufelt) of Pinckney, and Kari (James Bradley) of Jackson; Grandchildren, Shauna (Alton) Graham, Hunter Guyer, Madison Guyer, Haley Green and Nicole (Nick) Kisonas; great-grandchildren, Eamon, Nakea, Kaylee and Owen. She is also survived by sister Karen (Loren) Wolfe, nephews Loren (Melody) Wolfe, Chad (Kim) Underwood, Richard (Tammy) Parkinson, niece Krista (Kerry) Wolfe, Lauren (Pat) Bataglia; former husband Paul (Barb McCoy) Parkinson; aunt Valoise (Eldon) Rouse, cousins, Sue, Kathy, Kristine and Mark. She was preceded in death by her brother George (Janice) Underwood and niece, Erin (Travis) Banton. An (almost) lifetime resident of Royal Oak, Beth graduated from Kimball Highschool in 1960. After raising kids and many years in transportation, Beth found her calling in the travel industry and enjoyed organizing group trips, cruises and excursions. Beth moved to the Ann Arbor area in 2010 to be closer with her family, but always looked forward to return trips to her home town. Beth was a good cook, but really loved baking and decorating cookies and cupcakes. Our holiday table will never the be same without mom’s over the top displays of delicious desserts, or the incredible fantasy-like Christmas she managed to organize year after year. Her family would like to express a special thank you to life-long friends Sharon (Boyd) Kugel and Carol Lofthouse for always staying in touch with Mom, along with many others from Royal Oak that attended her celebrations and have expressed sympathy. The caring staff of Linden Square Assisted Living in Saline and the staff of Careline for providing mom with help she needed to live a dignified and relaxed retirement enjoying her bird watching, crafts and weekly bingo with her fellow residents. Our spouses, Deanna, Sherry, Gerry and Jimmy for the constant support over the past decade, Dad and Barb for your grace and including mom in our family gatherings. A Celebration of Life will take place at on Saturday, October 22, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Polo Fields, 5200 Polo Fields Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Refreshments will be served with remarks planned for 2:30 pm.
