John "Jet" Edward Thomas

John “Jet” Edward Thomas of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away from heart failure on Monday, May 13th, 2024, at the age of 66. He was in the company of his daughters and visited by family and friends in the days prior. Jet was born on March 12th, 1958 in Clinton, Michigan to John C. Thomas and Joyce Thomas. He pursued his passions with unwavering dedication. Jet loved to ski and previously lived in Beaver Creek, Colorado, where he co-owned and operated a bar - then known as Drinkwater Park, now Coyote Cafe - at the base of the ski mountain. A prolific artist throughout his life, Jet was inspired by nature and people to create works of art across mediums, primarily working with acrylic paint on canvas. His work was often abstract, whether in paint, pastel, watercolor, ink, printed graphics, or even nail polish, showcasing the unique way in which he viewed the natural world around him. Jet also crafted jewelry from precious metals and other materials, creating treasured gifts for his family and friends. An avid gardener, Jet’s artistry was clear in his landscaping techniques and often adorned his garden with pieces of art. He was the proud caretaker and resident of his family’s cottage in Boyne City, Michigan, where he found solace and inspiration. Jet was able to share his passion for the great outdoors of northern Michigan here with his family. A loving father, son, and brother, Jet is survived by his mother, Joyce Thomas, sister Laura Veraldi, daughters Lucy Chadwick and Charlotte Thomas, grandson Blair Chadwick, and former spouse Kathy Thomas. He’s remembered by his family for his unique sense of humor and unconditional love. May those who loved Jet find comfort in knowing that he has found peace. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Sunday, May 19th from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. A Memorial Service celebrating Jet’s life will then be held at 4:00 P.M. Pastor Drex Morton and the family will be officiating.
