April 8, 2019, after a long and heroic battle with Lewy Body Dimentia and Parkinson's Disease, Alois S. Wald, passed into eternal life. Alois, known to most as Al, died peacefully in the comfort of his home with family and friends by his side. Al was born September 3, 1935, in Napoleon, North Dakota to Stanislaus J. and Katherine (Bosch) Wald. On May 5, 1958, Al was drafted into the Army and honorably served his country for two years as an Intelligence Specialist for the 13 Calvary 3rd Armor Division. Al married his wife of 56 years, Virginia (Schmitt) on February 25, 1963 and she survives. Al has three surviving children: Paulette Garbo, Gerard (Susan) Wald, and Melissa (Jim) Welby. Five grandchildren, Lacey (Andrew) Kunz, Hayley (Alex) Willis, Nicole (Josh) Wimmert, Brak and Luke Welby. Al also has four great-grandsons, Connor Kunz, Landon Wimmert, Brady Wimmert, and Lane Allen Wimmert. Al leaves two remaining sisters Regina Schmidt and Delores (Sr. Gerard) Wald, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Al's parents and eight siblings have already passed into their eternal resting home. The family will accept visitors at Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, MI on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline, MI at 10:30 A.M. with visitation beginning at 9:30 A.M. A luncheon will follow and will be held at the church. Burial will take place on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 12:30 P.M. in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Arbor Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
