Age 88, died on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Arbor Hospice Residence in Pittsfield Twp., MI. She was born on April 10, 1925 at the family farm in Pittsford, Michigan, the daughter of Alfred and Lola (Swyheart) Way. Edith graduated from Pittsford High School where she played basketball. She also served with the United States Navy Waves during WWII, and upon returning moved to Saline where she met her future husband, Ted. He preceded her in death in March of 2007. Edith and Ted built their own home and raised four sons on Detroit Street in Saline. Edith worked at and retired from the former Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital in York Township. After Ted’s death, Edith made her home at Millpond Manor. Edith was a member of Christ Our King Lutheran Church, the Saline Legion Auxiliary, a past volunteer with Saline Community Hospital Auxiliary, and enjoyed bowling, gardening and yoga for exercise. Her favorite place to spend time with family playing cards, boating, fishing, golfing or snowmobiling was the Harrison “Cabin in the Woods”. Survivors include sons Kevin (Sandy) Ormsby of Saline, David (Tammy) Ormsby of Clinton, MI, grandchildren Mike (Catalina) Ormsby, Jeff (Shaun) Ormsby, Amanda Ormsby, Carrie (Kevin) Vershum, Chris Ormsby, Dan (Alannah) Ormsby, and Elizabeth Ormsby, and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters Alice Kuhn, Jane Bowen, Ann Alber, daughter-in-law Mary Ormsby, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by sons Steve Ormsby and Phil Ormsby, her brother Clarence Wiebusch, and her sister Ruth Pocock. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Christ Our King Lutheran Church 3255 Saline Waterworks Road, Saline, MI, with Pastor Thomas Schroeder, officiating. A Flag Presentation Service will be held during the service under the auspices of the Washtenaw County Veterans Honor Guard. Donations may be made to the church, Arbor Hospice or the Saline American Legion Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the church where friends may begin calling on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.
