Edwin Rentschler

April 6, 1926 - March 6, 2013

Died at age 86, Tuesday, March 6, 2013, at the Arbor Hospice Residence, located in Ann Arbor. He was born April 13, 1926, in Saline Twp, MI, the son of Edwin and Tema E. (Lambarth) Rentschler. He was a graduate of Saline High School. On December 27, 1956, at the Bethel United Church of Christ, he married Alta Kuebler, and they were husband and wife for 56 years. Edwin was baptized at, and remained a lifelong member of the St John’s Lutheran Church of Bridgewater Twp, MI, as well as serving on both the Cemetery and Church Boards. He was a farmer all of his life, loving the land on which he worked, along with raising steers, lambs and pigs. Edwin was also a member of the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau. In addition to his wife, Alta, survivors include sisters-in-law Janet (George) Kirkpatrick, and Arlean Rentschler; nieces Mary (Bryan) Sickbert, Kathy and Susan Kirkpatrick, and Diane (Tracy) Hutchens; nephew Michael (Cheryl) Steeb; several cousins, great nieces, a great nephew, a great great nephew, dear friends Aaron (Jan) Girbach, Lloyd (Marlene) Jedele, and David (Donna) Jedele. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Lynford (Smokey) Rentschler. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013, at 11:00AM at the St John’s Lutheran Church of Bridgewater, MI, with Rev. Kathleen Meyers, officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to St John’s Lutheran Church or Arbor Hospice of Ann Arbor. Envelopes will be available at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home where friends may begin calling on Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 2:00 – 4:00PM and 6:00 – 8:00PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 10:00AM until the service begins at 11:00AM. Burial will follow, in the St John’s church cemetery.
