Ina T. Waterbury Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ina lived a full and happy 97 years and died peacefully at home, Friday, June 25, 2021, with family at her side. She was born May 12, 1924 in Rome, NY, the daughter of Truman D. and Frances Bellinger Turner. She loved to reminisce about growing up in the Village of Stanwix along the Erie Canal. Following her graduation from Oriskany Central High School, Ina worked for Revere Copper and Brass running a comptometer in the payroll department. At the same time she completed her nurse’s aide training with the Red Cross to volunteer nights and weekends during World War II. Ina married Daniel E. Waterbury on September 20, 1947. Early on they raised their family in Whitesboro and Fayetteville NY, later relocating to Saline, MI. Having been raised in a large loving family herself, Mema, as she was affectionately known, devoted her life and extended that love of family to her six children, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She had many passions including gardening, traveling and cooking for her family. Her quick wit, contagious laugh and beautiful smile will be greatly missed but her wonderful stories of days gone by will be with us forever. Her sons Richard Waterbury, Christopher (Dianne) Waterbury and daughters Cynthia (Glenn) Burkhardt, Carolyn Waterbury and Anita Miller will continue telling her stories, along with grandsons Daniel Waterbury III, Christopher R Waterbury, Joseph (Laura) Wahl, Travis Miller and granddaughters Veronica (Tim) Malinczak and Valerie (Gabe) Erickson. Her love will always be reflected in the faces of her great-grandchildren. Sisters Jean Urtz of SC and Sandra DeFrees of NC, along with many nieces and nephews, continue to share that beautiful Turner laughter. Preceding her in death were husband Daniel, son Daniel E Waterbury II, sisters Evelyn Nellenbach, Helen Mayer, Arleigh White, Ruby Pereto and Joan Money and brothers Truman and Louis Turner. A sincere thank you to Arbor Hospice for the wonderful care provided. Arrangements for a private family service are planned. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
