Irene B. Mehler Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Age 91, passed away at the home of her daughter’s on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in Taylor, MI. She was born on September 5, 1923 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Michael and Barbara (Bagos) Papp. On September 15, 1944 in Macon, MI she married Ralph W. Mehler and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2001. Irene retired from the University of Michigan where she was in charge of the scheduling and room assignments for the Dean of the School of Engineering. She also acted as Secretary for the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau and was formerly the Secretary to the Dearborn Heights Fire Department. Survivors include her children, David (Lori) Mehler and Barbara (William) Hammons, grandchildren Joshua (Krysten) Hammons, Joseph (Kari) Hammons, David (Amy) Hammons, Jonathan (Jurga) Hammons, Jeremiah Hammons, and Michelle (Doug) Schneider. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson Liam, her daughter-in-law Dr. Marie Mehler, and her nieces Elizabeth Donivan and Margaret Bertha Brown who were like sisters to her. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, her son Dr. Howard Mehler, and her siblings Michael Papp, Elizabeth Kovach, and Margaret McAlister. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline and on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M. at the Macon United Methodist Church, 11964 Tecumseh-Macon Rd., Clinton, MI with Rev. Lance Ness, officiating. Burial will follow at the Macon Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Macon Methodist Church and envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home and at the Church.
