James J. Girdis

Age 73, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his home. He was born June 23, 1942 in Rochester, NY, the son of John and Martha (Nevel) Girdis. On February, 20, 1965 in Rochester, NY, he married Joyce Castner and she survives. Jim’s greatest love was his family and especially grandchildren. He also enjoyed dirt bikes, Harleys, snowmobiling, and music. Jim’s career as electrical engineer for Ford Motor Company spanned many years. Survivors in addition to his wife include their children Denise (David) Garcia, and Todd J. Girdis. Other survivors include his grandchildren Grant and Lauren Garcia, Elise and Sofia Girdis, nieces Carol (David) Ker, Pamela (Dean) Fenton, and Gayle Cowger, great-niece Courtney Ker, great-nephew Clinton (Amber) Palermo, cousins, and many dear friends who were also family. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. His family would like to express their gratitude to Arbor Hospice and Dr. Donald Martin. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church Saline, 1200 North Ann Arbor Street, with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle officiating. Following a luncheon, burial will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery in Saline at 2:15 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kettering University (GMI) or to Arbor Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church where friends may begin calling on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.
