    Joan Marie Gagné

    May 9, 1932 - October 6, 2020

    Joan Marie Gagné, 88, of Saline, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 with family by her side. Joan was born May 9, 1932 to the late Thomas Henry Doherty, originally from Ireland and Frances Marie Doherty, originally from Detroit, MI. Joan was married 63 years to Russell Vincent Gagné (Deceased). She is survived by her children Charlie Gagné of Dexter, Jeannine Allen (Adrian) of Grosse Pointe Farms, Tom Gagné (Tiffani) of Ferndale, and Marielle Gagné of Ypsilanti; her grandchildren Nicolaas Allen, Andrew Gagné (Ella), Joshua Gagné (Baylie), Jonathan Allen (Elizabeth), Emily Gagné, and Michael Gagné. She is also survived by her beloved brother Charles Thomas Doherty of Knoxville, Tennessee and her beloved sister Kathleen Bridget Sock of Redford. Joan was an employee of Ford Motor Company where she was secretary to Lee Iacocca. She became a stay-at-home mother which she enjoyed. Russ loved Joan's cooking, the kids loved hearing her play the piano, and Joan loved quilting and sewing outfits for herself and the kids. Joan and Russ lived in Bloomington, Minnesota, where she received a Master's in Social Work from St. Catherine University. She was a devout Catholic, taught CCD, was a facilitator in a faith sharing group, and was a RCIA mentor for people entering the Catholic Church. Joan loved to travel and saw the world with her husband Russ, including a stint in Germany while Russ was in the Army. She enjoyed being navigator to Russ as he raced his 91 Ford Taurus SHO at various venues across the country. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church of Saline. Friends are invited to celebrate Joan's life on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Saline, MI, with a viewing starting at 10:00 A.M.
