December 15, 1953 - July 18, 2014
John entered eternal life unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2014. His big pearly white smile will always be the first thing that will remind us of our dear husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend John Patrick Kelly. We are comforted in knowing that his amazing smile was what he greeted our heavenly father with. His spirit is carried on by his loving wife, two children, two grandchildren, two surviving siblings, extended family and friends from everywhere he went. John was born on December 15, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. He is now reunited with his loving parents Michael Joseph Kelly and Patricia (Shutt) Kelly and survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Kaminski) Kelly, daughter Kimberly (Kelly) Montanye and son John Patrick Kelly II. He graduated from Redford High School in 1972 and then began his long career at the Ford Motor Company. John and Patricia were married on November 6, 1976. John was an amazing family man that always put his family first. He was the dad that attended every function, and the grandfather that showed everyone, even strangers, pictures of his two grandchildren. John’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of John’s spirit, passion for helping others and zest for life will live on through them. There is nothing John liked better than an interesting conversation with a friend, old or new. John could have an engaging conversation with literally anyone. He was always going out of his way for any and everyone no matter who they were. He loved to be outdoors and could fix anything, our own personal MacGyver! John always said his children and grandchildren were, “the best I ever did” and we hope to continue to make him smile and laugh while is he protectively and lovingly watching over us in heaven. Everyone who remembers John is asked to celebrate his amazing life in their own way. But we encourage you to raise a glass, look up and give him a big smile and reflect on an amazing memory you shared. John will be tremendously missed, but never forgotten. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Christ Our King Lutheran Church in Saline, with Rev. Thomas Schroeder officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. If you choose to, in the remembrance of John, please make a donation of your choosing in John’s memory in lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the church where friends may begin calling on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 Noon.
