Kshama Nagaraj
January 23, 1936 - August 11, 2021
Kshama Nagaraj, aged 85 years, of Pune, India and Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away on Wednesday August 11, 2021, with her family by her side. Kshama was born in Rayadurg, Karnataka in India on 23 January 1936 to B. K. Amruthamma and B. N. Keshava Iyengar. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and was pursuing a law degree until she met and married her lifelong partner, Nagaraj Ramanuja Ayyangar in 1960. They made their home in Pune, India, where Nagaraj was a prominent organic chemist at the National Chemical Laboratory. Kshama was particularly close to her friends in Pune’s Buena Monte neighborhood, some of whom she had known for over 60 years. Kshama is survived by her daughter Rita, son-in-law Rick, and grandchildren Maya and Marcus. Kshama survived her only sibling, Jayaram, and her husband Nagaraj by 15 years. Kshama was a gentle, unassuming soul who enjoyed home and family, especially watching her grandkids grow. She had a simple elegance about her, and a keen eye for design. Her hobbies included embroidery, cooking Indian food, reading, word puzzles, Carnatic music, growing succulents, walking, and a few favorite television shows. She especially enjoyed the extended family gatherings, spending time and sharing memories together. Her 13th day Attainment of Moksha ceremony will be held on 23 August, 2021 at the home she shared with her daughter and family in Ann Arbor.
