Age 85, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at her home. She was born June 9, 1929 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of William and Pearl (Kuhn) Hitchingham. On June 18, 1949 in Ann Arbor, she married Ralph E. West and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2014. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 18, so they are now dancing together again. Marilyn was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post #423 and served for many years as the Auxiliary President. She loved camping, making crafts, baking chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was famous for her lemon poppy seed bread and her lemon meringue pie. She loved her shopping trips, even when she didn't buy anything and she was a huge coupon clipper before it was the "big thing" to do. Marilyn and Ralph traveled across the country and saw each of the continental United States. She also loved her dogs, Penny who preceded her in death and Brandy and Teddy, who miss her terribly. Survivors include her children: Alan (Robin) West, Robert (Mary Beth) West, Jill (Richard) Grim, Kathy (Pete Kieme) Zill, Steven (Lori) West, and Thomas West. Other survivors include her sister Patricia Hitchingham, sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Ethel Fritts, brother-in-law, Gerald West, brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Ruth West and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband her two grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth and Jacob Edward, by her brother William Hitchingham, sister Virginia Koons, sister-in-law Lois West, brother-in-law Duane West, brother-in-law, Harold Fritts, and brother and sister-in-law Harold and Phyllis West. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 12:30 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, MI with Deacon Paul Ellis officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice or to the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post #423. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where friends may begin calling on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:30 P.M.
