Phyllis L. Sharkey

March 25, 1927 - August 11, 2015

Age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Tecumseh Place Assisted Living Facility. She was born March 25, 1927 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Albert B. and Lucille (Seeger) Henderson. While living in Washington, DC, and working at the Pentagon, Phyllis met and fell in love with a sailor. On July 17, 1948 in the St. Gabriel’s Church in Washington D.C. she married Donald S. Sharkey. Survivors include their children Karen Sharkey, Mike (Sandy) Sharkey, Judy (Tony Brakora) Sharkey, Betsy (Joe) Hemeryck, Donna (Al) Hoye, and Col. James (Angela) Sharkey, Grandchildren: Christi (Jon) Biggert, Joy (Bob) March, Ashley Gotts, Alina and Max Sharkey, and step-grandchildren Casey (Will) VanKampen, and Kim (Bobby) Kroha. Other survivors include her Great-Grandchildren Quinn Biggert, Allyse, Nate and Ben March, and her sister Maureen Lewis. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Donald, Oct. 28 2000, her parents, and her brother-in-law Lt. Col. Hal Lewis. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, with her son Michael Sharkey and Pastor Robert March, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Saline. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saline District Library. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where friends may begin calling on Saturday, August 15, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.
