Raymond E. Goff Sr.

Raymond E. Goff Sr, age 89, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at his home in Manchester, MI. Ray was born in South Lyon, MI, the son of Charles W. and Doris (Baldwin) Goff. Ray spent his childhood in Whitmore Lake and left there to join the United States Air Force. His tour took him to Japan during the occupation. After returning home he started his life’s work as a plumber. He was a mechanical inspector for the University of Michigan, retiring in 1993. Ray was a loyal member of Plumber’s Local 190 for more than 60 years. He married Ava Osborn in 1952. They raised three sons, Ed, Dale and David. After retirement, Ray and Ava traveled extensively. He loved family, animals and a good time. Ray was a strong promoter of “Do the right thing”. He was predeceased by his sons Dale and David, his brother Charles, and sister Linda. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Ava, and his son Ed. Other survivors include his grandchildren Nathan, Tamara, Miranda, Anthony and Christiana. Eleven great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Jacob, Baily, Sarah, Kaiya, Amelia, Maio, Xsavior, Nathan Jr., Riot, Leo and Penelope. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to honor Ray’s memory may be made to Arbor Hospice or to Bethel United Church of Christ, notes section: Music Fund. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Arborcrest Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, MI. Military Honors will be held under the auspices of the Washtenaw County Veterans Honor Guard. A memorial service will be held at Bethel United Church of Christ in Manchester at a future date, and details will be available on the funeral home’s website.
