Richard C. Grieb

Richard Charles Grieb "Rich" age 50, of Harper Woods, MI, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Saline, MI, at Arbor Hospice after a year-long battle with brain cancer. In the last weeks of his life, he was surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He is survived by father Charles G. Grieb, (Anne Takacs-Grieb) of Grass Lake, MI, sons Atris Grieb and Kyle Schultz (Crystal Thuss), and their mother Stefani Schultz of Ann Arbor, MI, step-daughter Isabella Skiendziel and her mother, Dawn Grieb. Siblings LeeAnn McKeon (Patrick) of Ann Arbor, MI, Jed Spicer (Brittany Walters) of Bellefonte, PA, Christopher Grieb (Kara) of Salt Lake City, UT, Andrea Grieb of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Sarah Grieb of Oakland, CA, Bryant Grieb of Dearborn, MI, grandchildren Stella and Arthur Schultz, nephews Donovan McKeon, Elio Grieb, and long-time friend and honorary brother Scott Buck (Debra) of Britton, MI. Raised by Carol Acitelli (Elizabeth Faue), of Ann Arbor, MI. Also survived by many special friends near and far. He was preceded in death by mother Rickey Marie Spicer (ne Crater), of Spring Mills, PA. Born November 2, 1969 in Bellefonte, PA. The family moved to Redford, MI, in 1975. He built his career in the automotive industry as an engineer with Johnson Controls and, eventually, Magna Corporation. In everything he did, he strived for excellence and was well-known among his peers for just that. Throughout his career, he got to travel and enjoy cultures and food from all over the world. While he loved exploring, he loved being a dad at home the most. He had friends all over the world, loved to entertain, and cook (he made a mean guacamole), and had a great sense of humor. In the home he refurbished in Harper Woods MI, his admiration for Frank Lloyd Wright was everywhere. He loved poetry, music of all kinds, art, and history. As a student of life, Rich was a true renaissance man. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Meditterano Restaurant, 2900 South State Street Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Friends may gather for a time of visitation beginning at 10:30am with celebration at 12:00 noon. Lunch to follow immediately thereafter.
