    Sylvia Edna Kalmbach

    May 22, 1926 - April 23, 2019

Sylvia Edna Kalmbach, age 92, of Saline, MI, formerly of Ann Arbor, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Sylvia was born on May 22, 1926 in Saline, MI, the daughter of Aaron and Bertha (Finkbeiner) Feldkamp. On May 7, 1949 she married Elmer Kalmbach and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2002. Sylvia graduated from Saline High School in 1943. She attended Business School in Ann Arbor and worked at Argus, where she met her husband. She later worked for Bendix Corporation until her retirement. Sylvia enjoyed staying busy and was in a bowling league for many years. She volunteered with a group of woman who square danced monthly with residents at the Veteran’s Hospital. She was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ and was active in the Mother’s Study Circle. Sylvia was very close to her siblings and their families. She always hosted Thanksgiving dinner, which included up to 35 family members. “Aunt Sylv’s” creamed onions were requested for every family gathering. She retained her good sense of humor until the end. She will be missed. A special thank you to the staff at EHM-Saline for the caring attention she received while a resident there. Survivors include her daughter Linda (John) Townsend of North Muskegon, MI, and her son Michael Kalmbach of Tolland, CT. Also surviving are her grandchildren John (Laura Ozios) Townsend, Kelly (Lance) Townsend-Hullinger, Lara (Josh) Traczynski, Andrew (Jenn Barry) Kalmbach Brian (Brittany Debelius) Kalmbach, great-granddaughter Samantha Traczynski, and her sister Marian Allmand. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and by siblings Willard (Arleen) Feldkamp, Leon (Lois) Feldkamp, Ellen (Albert) Easudes, and brother-in-law Charles Allmand. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline with Rev. Diane White officiating. Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at 3:00 P.M. Inurnment will take place in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Bethlehem U.C.C. and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
