Age 50, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at his home. He was born September 30, 1965 in Flemington, NJ, the son of Allan F. and Asenath (Payne) Burns. On August 8, 1987 in Collegeville, PA, he married Joy Litka, and she survives. He graduated from Coatesville Area Senior High School in Coatesville, PA in 1983 and then from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA, in 1987 with a double major in Physics and Computer Science. It was there he met the love of his life, Joy, to whom he had the privilege of being married for 28 years. He began his career in software development at Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX, but most recently worked for almost 16 years at MSCI, where he attained a title of Vice President. He had been an active member of Saline First United Methodist Church since moving to Michigan in the summer of 1993, leading Sunday School classes, playing handbells, and serving on numerous committees. He was an avid cyclist, handyman, video gamer, train enthusiast, and science fiction aficionado. He loved camping with his family, baking and breadmaking, and had a unparalleled wit. He had a deep love for his family, and a deeper love for his savior Jesus Christ. Survivors in addition to his wife include their children Nathaniel (Anna) Burns, Dillon (Jennifer) Burns, Tate Burns, and Ian Burns. Other survivors include his parents Allan and Senie Burns, his brothers John (Suzy) Burns and Robert (Janice) Burns, his sister Laurie Burns, and his father-in-law Lane (Kia) Litka. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Saline First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle officiating. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to Good News Magazine (http://goodnewsmag.org/) or the Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti (http://www.thehopeclinic.org/). Envelopes will be available at the church where friends may begin calling on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.
