    Virginia Lee Hmay

    January 31, 1934 - October 24, 2021

Virginia Lee (Murray) Hmay, 87, passed away peacefully at Arbor Hospice after a brief illness. Virginia enjoyed many years teaching in the Saline area. A highlight of her teaching career was the yearly production of “A Christmas Carol” and signed her annual Christmas letters as Tiny Tim would, “God bless us, Every One.” In 1978, Virginia married Thomas Hmay, Ann Arbor. They enjoyed making their home in Ann Arbor, traveling near and far, singing Handle’s “Messiah” at Hill Auditorium each year, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with family. Following retirement, they wintered in Leesburg, Florida, and moved to Dexter, Michigan. Following Tom’s passing in 2014, Ginny moved to Ionia, Michigan, then settled for the past two years at Silver Maples in Chelsea. A gifted story teller, Aunt Ginny will lovingly be remembered by her nephew, Kurt (Mary) Murray and their son, Loggan; niece, Lisa (Tracy) Zuver and their children Mattea and Ben; brother, Arlan (Donna) Murray. Additionally, stepsons Glenn (Betty) Hmay and Tom Jr. remain, as well as goddaughters Amanda Pickford and Brittany Appel, and their parents, Eric and Beth Pickford. Waiting to greet her in heaven were her parents, Forrest and Mary A. Murray, her beloved Tom, and infant great-niece, DC. A Celebration of Life gathering for close friends and family will be held at a later time.
