William Joseph Pettit

Age 74, passed away at his home on Monday, January 2, 2012. He was born July 13, 1937, the son of James Theodore and Emily Elizabeth (Wahr) Pettit. Bill, referred to by his close friends as “Diamond Bill”, loved his farmland in Saline and enjoyed watching the deer, ducks and bald eagles nesting in his barn. Other pleasures were fishing and traveling. Bill always had God in his heart and saw such joy in giving, not only in funds, but helping to get a bus for Sunday School and feeding the children breakfast; giving over 100 bicycles for the children in church. He also served in the United States Marine Corps. Bill is survived by his daughters, Victoria L. Yantis and Deborrah Scott, grandchildren, Robert Ean (Rachel) Parker, Michayla Natiel Yantis and William, Donald and Adam Lovern, four great-grandchildren, dear friend and companion, Mary Price and his very dear friend, Diana Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Saline. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rev. Bill Snow, 2904 Fairview Rd., P.O. Box 1333, Paragould, AR 72451 and envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home where friends may begin calling on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M.
