Victor Alexander Indre

On June 28, 2026, Facebook experienced a sharp decline in activity, out-of-work comedians suddenly felt less competition, and Sparty Nation mourned the loss of one of their own. Victor Alexander Indre, age 77, passed away peacefully while at his home in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Victor was born on November 17, 1948 to proud parents Victor and Barbara (Varga) Indre at Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan. He and his sister Barbara (Trahey) were raised as proud Hungarians in Allen Park, Michigan. Victor graduated from Allen Park High School in 1966 and from Michigan State University in 1970. Victor met the love of his life, Deborah “Debbie” Kaplar, in the same confirmation class at the Hungarian Reformed Church in the Delray neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan. The two were married on July 18, 1970 at the newly built Hungarian Reformed Church in Allen Park, Michigan. The happy couple welcomed son Gregory Stephen on January 5, 1973 and daughter Amy Susanne on October 1, 1976. In 1985, the couple relocated from Lincoln Park, Michigan to Trenton, Michigan to raise their family. Victor overcame multiple health challenges throughout his life but still persevered and was always dedicated to providing for his family. After retiring, Victor and Debbie relocated to Ypsilanti, Michigan in 2010 to be closer to their daughter and her family. Throughout his life, Victor was an active member of the now renamed American Hungarian Reformed Church, sang in the choir, and held several offices. Whenever he wasn’t watching sports or sending jokes on Facebook, Victor enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Many of his classic one-liners will live on in the memory of his family members, especially his impressionable grandsons. Victor is survived by his devoted wife Deborah of Ypsilanti, Michigan, son Gregory, daughter-in-law Leslie, grandsons Noah and Elijah all of Palmetto, Florida, daughter Amy Boyless, son-in-law John Boyless, grandsons Jaxson and Jaykob all of Saline, Michigan, and sister-in-law Rebecca Kaplar of Lincoln Park, Michigan. Victor was a loving husband, devoted father, and endearing “Pepa” and “Papa” to his adoring grandsons. Victor’s presence will be missed but his spirit will Sparty On!
